Course Consultation & Design
By Mogie Bearden-Muller, USEF Recognized 'r' Course Designer and Advanced Rider with over 20 years experience in three-day eventing
Course design can make the difference between a struggling event and a successful one!
Some of the reasons you may want to consult a recognized course designer:
Are our competition courses up to standard?
What must I do to change them if they are not?
How can I update my course without major capital?
What's the best site for my new course?
Where should I situate my new water jump or bank complex so that in the future we don't have to move it or abandon it?
How can I get the most out of my land, terrain, older, or limited course?
We want our course to be safer. How do we do that and still create a fair competition?
We're a pony club on a budget. Can we afford a course designer?
I want to build a schooling course at home. Can you help me?
Mogie can help you answer these questions!
Consultation may involve a meeting with principles to determine needs and vision; taking time to visit the site and walk it together, discussing problems, listening to ideas, creating workable solutions; then finalizing an agreed-upon plan to make meaningful and positive changes.
The value of a recognized course designer is the depth of knowledge, ability to design safe and appropriate questions for each level of competition. This expertise comes from experience riding over many, many cross-country jumps, throughout the United States and Canada, over years of competition at the highest levels, and extensive apprenticeships with top international course designers.
